Established in October 2023, EMEAA is a volunteer-based 501c3 non-profit association formed by eight founding members seeking to grow and provide a value-added organization to connect, embrace, promote, and enhance the emergency management external affairs community of professionals across the globe.
Words matter. Understanding matters more. People matter most. We are a collaborative community serving as thought leaders in the advancement of emergency management external affairs. Our community is focused on advancing training, history, best practices, awareness, recognition, networking, and camaraderie within our field. We are inclusive of all current and former international and U.S. external affairs officials and professionals.
To become the preeminent national communication association with a reputation for providing meaningful, measurable, and visible results that enhance the positive impact and reputation of our community of professionals.
Building Community: We are a community of former, current and future Emergency Management External Affairs practitioners. We aim to build that community into an organization that finds the best ways for each and every member to gain and contribute however they can.
Fostering Relationships: Words matter. Understanding matters more. People matter most. Our members, collaborators, customers, and the public are paramount to an inclusive environment and every decision we make. We will create bridges and pathways to allow all our members to connect, reconnect, share knowledge and recall great memories. We will lift up our members and help each other thrive.
Embracing Collaboration: Our whole is greater than the sum of our parts. Trust, Respect, Teamwork, Empowerment, and Effective Communication will be our litmus test for success.
Promoting Communication Global Best Practices: Providing excellent customer service, producing high-quality goods and/or services consistently, reliably, and responsibly that meet or exceed industry standards.
Doing the Right Thing: All of this will be grounded in always taking the high road and maintaining the highest integrity in our words and actions.
Leading By Supporting: Guiding team members and the profession to success through encouragement, positivity, a healthy work environment and improved job satisfaction.
Operating Transparently: We will ensure honest sharing and accounting of all information needed to ensure an informed and invested membership as well as the trust of those stakeholders we serve.
Always Adding Value: Everything we do should be focused on how we will benefit our members, stakeholders and the publics impacted by disaster.
Honoring Legacies: We will recognize and pay tribute to those who have made historical contributions to the external affairs field by ensuring their service, experiences, and lessons are shared with the new generation of leaders.
